So I was watching a samurai flick and it dawned on me how incredibly uber the lancer army was.

Guild Wars Lancers may have the ability to use a spear to knock down running opponents, and throw knocked down opponents. They are able to push opponents away, cripple and knock down running opponents, do heavy dmg to running opponents, and disrupt spell casting, all more effectively if points are put into the primary attribute.

Although they were mounted on a horse as a standard, some of their demonstrations involved throwing sacks of sand into the air with their spear. This would require tremendous power, hence the attribute for power, which would be the required skill to wield a spear.

Spear Range - Primary attribute for Lancer, each point increases range of melee by 1/2 ft. The range of a lancers spear would be about double that of a sword, plus any points in the primary attribute for a maximum of about 12 ft.
Power Techniques - Required attribute for using a spear; affects attack skills specific to doing dmg.
Reaching Techniques - Attributes for ranged attack skills; Many of the skills start such as "If oppenent is further than 6 feet, ...."
Morale Techniques - Skills to mitigate dmg, dodge attacks, regain hitpoints, boost teammates, etc.



Sample skills:

For 4-8 seconds, target foe moves 90% slower running towards you, and 10% faster running away from you.

If target foe is casting a spell, that spell is disabled until that foe has moved 6-20 feet, then it is enabled again and that foe gains 15-3 energy.

Repeating thrust: If this thrust hits you strike for +10 dmg and the skill recharges immediately. If it misses, this skill is disabled until you use another skill, and that skill takes an additional 15 seconds to recharge.

If target foe is running away from you, that foe is knocked down and crippled for 10 seconds or until that foe blocks an attack.

Elite skill: All your attack skills are disabled for 8-5 seconds. For 4-7 seconds, target foe is dazed and cannot move.

Elite skill: Target foe is knocked back 12 feet and knocked down at that location for 3 seconds.

Anonymous thrust: For 10 seconds, the next party member that attacks with melee does +5-32 dmg.

Elite skill: The next melee skill used by a member of your party is blocked, but target foe is knocked down with a deep wound.

Trip target running foe. This skill must be used on an opponent more than 6 feet from your location.

If this attack hits a knocked down opponent, that oppent is tossed in the opposite direction from your location an equal distance from target foes current location.

While some of the sample skills are questionable, I like the overall concept.

Very interesting concept there RyZell. I like the idea of seeing people flying all over the place although I think some of the skills would definetly have to be toned down :P
